Recommendation of the Week:
Rohn Kenyatta LookingNWords
I am unclear exactly when Rohn Kenyatta began writing this column on substack, but when I discovered this column because I now have the chance to encounter with a writer I have admired for a few years. I first encountered him when a link led me to an article he had written in the Los Angeles Sentinel , and that led to a reference that he was also a columnist for the Black Agenda Report and more recently I have found that he has written for

. So when I found out he was also writing this substack column and he had no block (at this point at least) I jumped at the opportunity to interact with him. First of all, he is a superior wordsmith, he masters the craft of putting together words to convey extra layers of meaning in the manner of writing. But despite my attraction to his words, the ideas he expresses from his experiences of being a member of an oppressed sect defined only by skin color—I find his message superior to Baldwin and more akin to early Cleaver. While no white man (like me) can experience the negation of personality often experienced by the black person in America, my identification with his work is because I am equally capable of identifying oppression, and my anger is directed at white people who allow themselves to be victimized into continuing their disparagement of black citizens because of their own feelings of being misdirected against the people that should be embracing that together could possibly alter the oppression. Anyway, a long recommendation for one of the most important voices in America today. (And if anyone would like to gift me a paid subscription to his substack, nature bless you.)
Finally
I have also long been a fan of social theorist Michael Sandel. Today I was able to listen to The Tyranny of Meritocracy: What's Become of the Common Good. Scribd has a free audio version (11 hours) available that I listened to today. Or to be kind to Mr. Sandel, it is available for purchase at https://www.amazon.com/Tyranny-Merit-Whats-Become-Common/dp/0374289980
from Moore v. Harper
“…when legislatures make laws, they are bound by the provisions of the very documents that give them life. Legislatures are the mere creatures of the State Constitutions, and cannot be greater than their creators.”
Can I add, or paraphrase,"humans are mere creatures of this earth and cannot be greater that its creator (the earth).”
Mr. Taylor that is quite high praise coming from an author with your linguistic dexterity. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
